Jonathan Small

Canadian by birth and Italian by upbringing, Jonathan Small grew up on a wine and olive oil farm in the countryside.

His love for sailing began at age 12 during Italian summer camps and deepened after discovering Tom Perkins’ story and the iconic Maltese Falcon. A lifelong passion for yachts was sparked—fuelled by sketching boats as a child and subscribing to Yachting magazine before he could tie his first knot.

After studying at Montreal’s ITHQ Hotel School, Jonathan launched a yachting career, blending sailing expertise with hospitality. Six years at sea led to a transition into real estate with Sotheby’s in Quebec and later Barnes in Paris, where he honed his skills in client relations and service excellence. Now, at BARNES Yachting, he brings his unique journey full circle—uniting a love of yachts, luxury, and exceptional experiences.
